Immediately I heard the price drop, I paused to reconsider. Now don’t be too quick to pass judgement and lay blame on me.
In business there are about two ways I know you can use to beat competition; offer the same service at a lower price, increase the quality of your service at perhaps a higher price or maybe offer some incentive. Any of these can attract customers
So I simply got attracted by the price drop and moved to the next bus. Of course, the other bus conductor understood and moved on with his business.
I entered my new bus and relaxed. Happy for my free #20. Two sachet of pure water covered.
About 30 minutes later, I was at my junction. “Oga stop” he stopped. I alighted and brought out my #100 note, gave it to him, still stretching my hand to collect my balance.
Only for him to look at me with one face like that. Like he is surprised I am expecting my balance. Seriously? “Oga give me my change!”
“Which change, where I take carry you?” I told him. “ehen, na #100 we take dey carry”
Eh! What is that! Were you not the one that use your mouth to tell me #80? Why will you tell me #80 if you know it was #100.
Thank God some passengers were still alighting and others boarding. So he didn’t get the chance to zoom off.
This man was telling me he only said #80 so that I will leave the other guy and enter his own bus. Really? Who does that!
To be honest, it wasn’t even the #20 that was paining me now, but the fact that he deceived me.
And did not allow me to patronize that very eager and hard-working conductor at the park.
I would not allow this to happen. No way. “Oga give me my #20 Now!”
Passengers who were now ready were becoming impatient with him. He was still trying to convince them.
I wondered how he even thought he was making sense.
I got a few supporters. One man wanted to help him out and give me the #20, but I refuse.
“Sir, #20 is not my problem. But this man needs to learn a lesson. You don’t deceive people like that. At least, not like this.
Wait a minute, isn’t that what they do? You know them right?
To be continued…
