Some years ago, I was involved in the technical organizing committee of a healing concert organized by a friend where I worked with a team to handle the stage lightening effects.
But while the concert was on the gear, the generator we were using to power all the light just went off, suddenly!
Myself and all the technical hands in the auditorium quickly rush to the generator set and each one of us began to take turns as we tried to restart it.
Was it the fuel? NO! There was still enough fuel in it. Was it the plugs? NO! They were invariably new.
We ran out of clues and quickly switched over to prayers as we took turns laying hands and attempting to switch it on simultaneously.
We bound the devil, cast out the demons sent by hell to frustrate the generator and temper with the meeting. We decreed, prophesied, commanded and even switch over to praising God at a point.
When someone’s anointing seemed not to be solving the problem, another man took over; yet the problem persisted.
At that point, I knelt down to God holding the generator, speaking all manner of mysteries. I prayed with every grace I could muster, shouting as the generator started…
But after two minutes, it just went off… To be sincere, I felt God has disappointed me, even publicly!
Then, the generator technician arrived and ask me to step aside. He didn’t pray! He just went straightway to the oil compartment of the generator; opened the lid and announced, “Sir, there is no oil! “
Kai! You can imagine how stupid I felt having prayed all manners of prayers as in Eph. 6:18 and was already sweating.
The technician’s announcement made me imagine how God would have been looking at us since the generator went off.
I just hissed as if to say, “So there is no oil in this thing and we were praying and doing deliverance for generator!”
What a misuse of spiritual energy!
We engaged in Prayer before God when we do not check whether the ball was yet in our own courts or not!
I learnt that lesson that day, “Next time, before you bother God for seemingly ignoring or disappointing you, Check well first! “
2Cor.10:6 “And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.” Eph.6:13-14: …Having done all to stand… Stand therefore…
See how easy it is for us to blame God for our so called “un-answered prayer requests” while we have right in front of us the little simple things we left undone that would have made all the difference.
Before you conclude that God is not being fair to you OR blame Him for your failures, check well first!
Before you resolve that your husband is a cheat OR your wife is a big mistake and you need a divorce, check well first!
Before you conclude your plans are not working and God is not answering your prayers, check well first!
Before shutting down that business opportunity, calling quit that relationship, given up prayers, losing hope on a possible turn around/change, check well first!
Could it be, that there is something right there that if only you had done, the story would have been different?
Sometimes, the winning steps was just yours to take.
Sometimes, it was you God had been waiting for… probably because the next step to take in the line of your victory was your step and not His.
So, while God is waiting for us, many times, we are busy blaming God for being slow!
Before you look at God with that bad eye… check well first!
PS: You may have checked, but, how well?
