Sometime ago, I misplaced my laptop which as at that moment contained all my articles, on-going book projects, write ups and documents of several years with no back up arrangement. I had brought it out of the house but could not longer find it on return
I searched and searched everywhere, even places I knew a laptop should not be found. Still I couldn’t find it. It wasn’t long before my eye balls began to turn red, swollen with tears as I gradually realized the worth of content loss that I was about to face. Umh!!
My entire countenance changed and I cried like a baby within, asking myself: Why didn’t I have a backup plan? Why didn’t I secure this content when I still had I? Why???
Unknown to me, as we searched, my wife had found the laptop in one of the most unimaginable places on a pavement near the car park where I dropped it as I wanted to arrange my loads in the car earlier in the day but she decided not to disclose the information till this lesson had sunk into my skull…
It wasn’t long before she had to tell me lest I degenerate to the point of getting sick or having a heart attack as the terrible painful thoughts injured my soul.
Hmm!! I had gotten the message. I got an external backup device to back up all my files the next week.
Why should losing an ordinary laptop have so much effect on one’s life as to threaten to take it?
Why should anyone entire building or a whole car burn to ashes because of a little fire that a little near by fire extinguisher should have put out.

Why should anyone lose his career because rubbers carted away with his academic certificate and credentials in an age where soft copies (at least) could have all be saved/stored online?
Why should anyone in this day and age loose all his phone contacts acquired over many years with his or her lost phone where sim backup services as well as many other options exist with little token or effort?
Whereas I may not yet be canvassing for the more encompassing safety plans as insuring assets and properties, I am more concerned with the cheap but highly rewarding little efforts we could make at saving ourselves from unnecessary heartaches when the “unexpected but not strange” happens.
Nobody expects thieves to come and steal away his/her precious items but when thieves come, it is also not strange!
Beyond physical items, a marriage can break where the couple did not pre-install any safety valves for handling internal wars and conflicts.
Though nobody on the wedding day ever expect to get fed up of the union and want out, but we all agree that when such things happen, it is not strange!
Above all, backup your life and all in God. Don’t lose your life and not find another life with the Father. Make sure you have a backup plan for eternity after death. Have a Back Up arrangement and have it NOW!!
