Welcome to September, the beginning of the rhythmic ’ember’ months. As an entrepreneur, what can you do to make this month and the remaining part of the year more productive? Here is something you must know.
I had already transcribed and prepare this Monday’s Interview session. A very great talk with one of the most talented fashion designer I know.
But then it hit me. This is the era of EMBER. The months of Ember has just began.
If you are a Nigerian, you will agree with me that a lot of persons have a negative mindset towards this era. Usually of fear and anxiety. I don’t know how we came about that, but somehow people just believe a lot of bad things happens this period. It behoves on me the need for this post.
First, the Ember period is a sweet rhyme that has nothing to do with negativity.
Second, it’s a period of highest effectiveness and productiveness for those who have goals.
Third, if you are an entrepreneur, it is the period when you get the highest sales ever. For very good reasons people all over Naija buy a lot this period.
Lastly and very beautifully, in Nigeria because of the favourable weather condition and holiday this time, it is the period of plenty owambe, wedding parties. A lot of persons will get married this period. Actually, you could have up to 10 different weddings in your area in just one Saturday. Plus lots of other festive celebration.
Biko, what is the negativity about, where did it come from?
I use to think this perception is all over the world, amazingly, when I did my research, there is nothing of such in developed countries. In fact, following statistics online, the best and most liked month of the year for lots of Americans, is September, October and December.
Let’s look at two critical points Nigerians always put up:
Increase in crime, increase in accident and road crashes. Both leading to high rate of heart attack and death.
What could be the cause of these, what do you think? Before you think of a blood sucking demon, I will tell you my findings.
First and very importantly crime and accident is peculiar to every other month of the year. Research shows that crime rate is just the same like every other time. While the accident rise is highest this period. But could it be solely a spiritual cause?
The answer is NO.
Usually, there is an increase in social – economic activities this times of the year, leading to heavy traffic in Nigeria roads, which increases the likelihood of road crashes. According to the Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC, the major cause of road accident is the violation of spead limit followed by loss of control and reckless driving. The accident rate seems much during December as a result of lots of travellers on the road, people migrating from commercial cities to their home town to celebrate the yuletide season.
Commercial drivers are usually on highest speed these times in bid to triple their trip and make more money so they can meet up with the financial demands of the season forgetting the risk it puts on their lives.
On the other hand, men who had no plans from the beginning of the year, see the rush as opportunity to defraud, pocket pick and rub innocent and unsuspecting citizens, since they also have to meet up with the financial demand of the season.
This partern continues to repeat itself, birthing the myth that ’ember’ months are dangerous and evil. Instead of us promoting and celebrating its true nature. Its high productive tendencies .
Many times it seems that Christians are the most fearful persons on earth, using the Nigeria context, while this is truly ironic because “God has not given us the spirit of fear“, but then you find out that a lot of church programs this period spread panic, worry and fear, instead of hope, faith and victory.
If you have to be very active in church programs this period so as to wade off road accident and death, while neglecting the very basic road safety action you should take, do you think that would be very effective? Especially if you don’t intend to continue your faithfulness.
The Ember month has nothing to do with evil. On the contrary, September, October, November, December are the most productive and industrious months of the year.
Maybe what we should focus on is taking caution in the rush of the season and driving safe. And even more importantly, having a set plan that enables you profitably maximize the financial overflow of the season. At the end of the day, those who make the million and billion dollers are not those who rush but those who plan ahead.
September, October, November, December is fruitful, couple with abundant financial supply, plenty of food to go round as it’s also the harvest season for many farmers. Have you also noticed; people look the most beautiful this period! It’s truly a season of merriment, yuletide, beauty, joy and abundance. So as an entrepreneur, three things you must do:
- First, discard the myth!!
- Second, review, reevaluate and reinforce your plans for the year.
- And third, maximize the opportunity. Make sure you are making profit. And yes you can, it’s your responsibility. You’ve got all it takes.
Once again, WELCOME TO THE BEAUTIFUL MONTH OF SEPTEMBER.
