It’s no longer news that China teach their kids technology, coding, programming languages in nursery schools. 7, 8 years old, are already good programmers. And we are wondering why so many things in our house, even our Matchstick is MADE IN CHINA.
I told someone of my plans to train teenagers, especially in junior schools on digital skills, and he said, they are too young. Haa! Young ke? For me, this is the best time, imagine you got really exposed to some of these things in your teen-age, for our team at BeInspired Show, there is no better time to do this than now.
Shocker! Do you know that so many young persons (teenagers and youth inclusive) still see social media platforms as a place only for uploading pictures and making gist? In 2019!! But even more shocking or maybe not surprising but sad is the fact that many teenagers have never been exposed to learning any of these digital skills.
“it is beautiful that these kids study to become lawyers, doctors, engineer, accountant and the rest, but if they are not digitally skilled, in this century and the coming years, they will end up a mediocre”. If not completely redundant.
It is our task to equip our teenagers with skills that will help them thrive in the face of future uncertainties, championing their growth best we can.
The problems are numerous, and the numbers are much, scary actually.
But with one step at a time, one mind then another, we can fix this. We can build the future we want.
