There is this intentionality about a new year. Everyone seems to know what to do and are doing it. We all look purposeful. Did you get what you just read?
You are free to read that again. Everybody seems to know what they are called out for in life and are already doing it. Do you believe that? I would five years ago, when I also wanted to belong to the set of serious minded people and scrabble out one or two things I call new year resolution.
Well, I was wrong because I always become irresolute before the end of January.
Then, in 2015, I had just one new year resolution: To pull my GPA which had already settled comfortably on a 2:2 to a 2:1, I did it! In 2016, I was determined not to call home for any financial assistance and to make impact in whatever state I am called to serve Nigeria, I did it! In 2017, I was bold enough to pioneer an even greater course for the people of Katsina, I did it! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1222210444564508&id=100003266938821
By May of the same year, after the job I wanted in Lagos did not come, I returned to my Father’s house. Alas, that year resolution did not cover for the whole year.
I counted my father’s ceilling for a whole month. Became bored and almost frustrated. I knew I couldn’t seat at home any longer. I was ready to take any job.
You know the very popular one for an intelligent English graduate like me, yes. that one. I jumped at it like the deer who had long pathed after the water and finally met some. I taught the kids with all my heart and soul. Some parents even told me that I was a great teacher and should continue the good work. I Thanked them, but I did not take their advice.
Then I remembered my blogging aspiration I had sometime earlier. (Topic for another day: Why I started blogging. Anticipate) So, I started crafting the next year plan in that line. The right person showed up. Nosakhare Endurance Zionnite . He developed the site and we lauched out on the first day of March 2018. I had other new year’s resolution last year too. Some I followed through, others folded up. But I learnt. Learnt a whole lot.
Then as last year began to fold up, I discovered an even greater method on how to live life.“Discover your life’s purpose, and follow through it every single day of your life.” Then just recently, I learnt from my great Mentor and leader of millions of young entrepreneurs, Dr Strive Masiyiwa, The year’s plan is not just a resolution. It’s a GOAL. I call it the Life Goal!
So, this year is different for me already. And greater!
And today I admonished you, understand your life’s purpose, the central truth of your life. Then live every single day, taking at least one step in fulfilment of your LIFE’S GOAL.
